Valentines just passed, cute couples everywhere, and I’m sure you’ve gotten a nice box of chocolate or a love letter. If you have not already, do not worry, there is always next year.

All of the romantic talks during the last couple of days reminded me of some of my favorite anime couples.

Therefore, I have decided to create this small list of the top 22 cutest anime couples. I will be updating this list in the future, but for now, I will keep it only on top 22.

22. Saeba Ryo and Kaori

Anime: City Hunter

After Saeba’s brother died she started living with Kaori and started to develop feelings for each other. The most adorable thing about this couple is that Ryo never tries to show affection towards her. He keeps flirting with every girl he sees and he even mocks Kaori that she is a boy.

21. Kaori and Kousei 

Anime: Your Lie in April

Another tragic story in the cutest couple anime. Kaori has always been a big fan of Kousei and his piano skills not only that she also loves him for that reason. She always had a dream to play duet with him but was too shy. Later after she got to know she doesn’t have much time left to live she finally approached him and asked him to play duet with him. While practicing with her, he got to know her well and fell in love with her but never confessed. Beautiful yet tragic love story but can’t help to ship them.

20. Risa and Otani

Anime: Lovely complex

As society has standards where a guy should be taller and a girl should be short, Risa is taller than Otani, an unusual love between them. Their love breaks the stereotype of this society and that makes them cute couples.

19. Tomoya and Nagisa

Anime: Clannad

Clanned is a classic romance anime series which turns into tragedy. Tomoya and Nagisa fall in love with each other during their high school and married after Nagisa graduated. Their story is a reminder that all love stories aren’t meant to last long even if you love each other so much.

18. Erika and Kyouya 

Anime: Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji

It is funny how Erika did lie to her friends that a random guy from her candid pictures was her boyfriend. But later she realized that guy was going to the same school as him and it turned out to be Kyouya. He started blackmailing Erika at first he told her to be her pet dog but as they started spending time with each other they fell in love and started a real relationship.

 17. Temari and Shikamaru

Anime: Naruto

Shikamaru and Temari’s love was unexpected as Temari was really a bothersome female that he could deal with. But their love was so casual yet sweet, they started to have feelings for each other over time.

16. Yona and Hak

Anime: Yona of the dwan

Hak has been in love with Yona since childhood secretly even though Yona used to love someone else but after years her father(The emperor) was murdered by the one she loved. After knowing her father’s death she went into shock but Hak has been protecting her since then. I find their love hard, but at the same time, I find it a really beautiful relation between them. 15. Shizuku and Seiji

Anime: Whisper of the heart

Shizuku and Seiji both are in their teenage pursuing their dreams with their talents. Even if this Anime is not focused on romance, they both had lovely encounters. I like this couple because even if they are in love they both decided to fulfill their dreams first.

14. Ran and Shinichi 

Detective Conan

Ran and Shinichi had feelings for each other since childhood but were too insecure about their feelings so never really confessed to each other. But when Ran met Conan who was Shinichi in fact she told all her feelings not knowing they both are the same person. Their love for each other is a cute and very unusual form of love.

13. Sophie and Howl 

Anime: Howl’s moving castle

In the cutest anime couple list, why wouldn’t we bring Ghibli’s most famous couples? Sophie and Howl are known to be the most adorable and admirable couples. 

Howl’s moving castle is an adventurous story of Howl and Sophie where they just wanted to break their curse but they fell in love with each other instead.

12. Kagome and Inuyasha 

Anime: Inuyasha

Kagome and Inuyasha surely didn’t have a good encounter at first nor did they get along. But after going on some adventures they started to have feelings for each other. Their arguments have become the main factor to build their relationship which I find very cute in their relationship.

11. Winry and Edward

Anime: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Throughout the entire series, Winry has aided Edward in any way she can, which made her a really great waifu material.

However, despite Edward and Winry being one of the cutest anime couples, the story lacked a lot in the development of their feelings towards one another.

10. Kirito and Asuna

Anime: Sword Art Online

Kirito and Asuna were definitely one of the cutest anime couples at the beginning of SAO. However, as the story progressed towards the end, this effect has dropped down a lot due to Kirito’s insanely powerful harem “jutsu”.

09. Irina and Karasuma

Anime: Assassination Classroom

In this relationship, you could say that Karasuma is a real Tsundere. Or perhaps Irina is a bit too clingy. Nonetheless, they make a perfect assassination couple together.

08. Sasuke and Sakura

Anime: Naruto

Despite the huge fandom behind this cute couple, I have to disagree with it being in the top 5’s. Don’t get me wrong, I like the couple.

However, you have to consider the fact that Sasuke Uchiha has been cold towards Sakura for the entire series. And it makes it seem like he only married her to further the Uchiha family.

07.Taiga and Ryuuji

Anime: Toradora

Love is war, or so they say. Despite the angrily presented picture above, Taiga and Ryuuji are one of the cutest anime couples out there. Despite starting out as friends and Ryuuji serving as Taigas punching bag. Their relationship is full of emotions and makes the overall anime series a great watch.

06. Kaneki and Touka

Anime: Tokyo Ghoul

Kaneki and Touka had their differences at the beginning, but they have grown to be a really cute couple. Although the anime adaptation got ruined, it was really fun seeing their relationship progress throughout the series.

05. Natsu and Lucy

Anime: Fairy Tail

When I first started watching Fairy Tail I would have never imagined Natsu and Lucy Hearthfilla ending up together. Well… at least not until the anime progressed a bit.

Although the story later prolonged and complicated their relationship a bit by introducing Lisanna. I still believe that they are one of the cutest anime couples.

04. Misaki & Usui

Anime: Maid Sama

Misaki and Usui have sweet and sour relations that’s why I think it makes them one of the cutest couples on this list. Throughout the entire series, you will see how Usui loves to bully Misaki as he wants attention from her but he is always there for her whenever she is in trouble.

03. Takeo and Yamato

Anime: Ore Monogatari!!

Takeo and Yamato meet after Takeo rescues her on a train from a molester. Soon after they start growing their cute relationship. The difference in their size is what makes them the cutest anime couples.

02. Naruto and Hinata

Anime: Naruto

Let’s all be honest, Naruto was dumb as a kid (a bit). However, Hinata still liked him for who he is, and that is exactly what draws me into loving this couple. Definitely a great example of true love.

01. Minato and Kushina

Anime: Naruto

Despite not having a lot of screen-time in Naruto, we can all agree that Minato and Kushina have had a really heart-warming backstory. Which makes their relationship even cuter and exciting.

Honorable Mentions

Zoro x Sanji (One Piece)

Zoro and Sanji have always been known to harbor strong feelings towards one another, which definitely earns them a spot as the honorable mention.

Alright, I am just joking with this one, please do not kill me One Piece fans.
